Smart lighting is easy to overdo. The goal is not to turn your living room purple. The goal is to make the room easier to use at different times of day.

Start with white light

If a bulb cannot do good warm white, skip it. Colour modes are fun for parties, but 95 percent of daily use is warm white at night and neutral white during work hours.

Choose the right place

Use smart bulbs where the whole room needs to change. Use strips behind TVs, under cabinets, and inside shelves. Use motion sensor night lights for hallways and bathrooms.

Check the basics

Look for 2.4GHz Wi-Fi support, reliable scheduling, and voice assistant compatibility only if you already use Alexa or Google. A bad app ruins a good bulb faster than weak brightness does.

Our simple rule

Buy fewer lights, place them better, and set schedules you will actually keep.
